The Lalique Piou sculpture-Piou Wing Up, 5.3x7.5cm (15509) is part of a charming new series of crystal birds that have joined the famous Lalique bestiary. The Piou-Piou collection celebrates fleeting, touching moments from the life of nature. This particular model captured a bird in a dynamic moment: it lifted its wing and turned its head, as if listening to the rustle of leaves or the song of the wind.
Lalique craftsmen demonstrated filigree work with the material using the famous contrast technique. The body of the bird is subjected to satin (matting), which creates a realistic texture of soft down and feathers, pleasant to the touch. The beak and small details are polished to a mirror-like shine, so they catch the light vividly and "enliven" the miniature's look.
Despite its chamber size (5.3 x 7.5 cm), the figurine has the weight characteristic of Lalique and the impeccable purity of crystal. The Piou-Piou bird will be an ideal addition to the collection of animalistic sculptures, an exquisite accent on the desktop or a gentle gift symbolizing freedom and the joy of life. Each piece is handmade in France and comes in a branded gift box, highlighting the brand's status with more than a century of history.
